The CartoVista labeling engine has enhanced options to support setting
label priority and allowing duplicate labels. It is possible to define
priorities at the layer level and also within a layer using feature classes.
The labelling priority ranges from 10 (high) to 1 (low). The default value
is 5 (medium). This new priority setting is very useful to ensure that
specific map layers are labeled before others.
The labelling options are available in the style properties dialog for
all types of features (points, polylines or polygons).
In addition to the priority, the following options
are available to label a map layer:
Choice of font, size and color
Text style, bold or italic
Halo
Drop shadow
Background color
Background image (JPG, GIF, PNG or SWF) (to create road
shields)
